    • There have been incidents where students are forming hate groups against particular students, targeting them. The students who join these groups are indulging in name-calling, teasing and provoking the student to react to their rude comments.
    • All these actions contribute to cyber bullying and harassment. The school has a very strict policy on bullying and teasing.
    • We wish to inform the students and the parents that if a student is caught forming such groups or posting derogatory comments and remarks and join these so-called “hate” groups, the school will take strict action against him/her. There will be no leniency shown to such negative practices.

    • Please find a few pointers to cyber safety of children :
      • Do not reply to rude or nasty comments.
      • Tell an adult immediately if you feel uncomfortable or worried when you are online. If someone is being mean or nasty on the net block them.
      • Have your computer in a common area of the house- NOT IN THE BEDROOM!
      • Let your parents know where you go online, just as you would in real life.
      • Ask your parents to spend time online with you – learn and explore together.
      • Make sure that there are filters and other monitoring/blocking software to minimise dangers.
      • Together with parents, set house rules about what information you can put onto websites or share with others.
      • Never share PERSONAL INFORMATION such as your name, address, phone number or school.
      • Social Networking profile setting MUST BE SET TO PRIVATE.
      • Social networking site friends should be people that you know in real life. This is one way of reducing possible risks.
      • An ‘online friend’ that you don’t know in real life is a STRANGER.
      • Passwords MUST NOT BE SHARED!!!!! Choose passwords that others can’t guess…..not your favourite food or pet’s name.
      • Be aware that information on the internet is not always reliable.

Please note that this list is by no means exhaustive and it is better for you to set your own rules with your children.
